The East Humber Trail:

The East Humber Trail is a recreational walking & hiking trail.  It passes through a variety of vegetation communities and land form features typical of those found on the Oak Ridges Moraine.  These lands provide a diversity of habitats for many wildlife species, particularly birds, including the Black-Billed Cuckoo, Yellow-Billed Cuckoo, Ring-Necked Pheasant and Red-Breasted Nuthatch, which are all uncommon in the Greater Toronto Area.

Community Centre:

The Oak Ridges Community Centre, located at 12895 Bayview Ave., is a state of the art landmark facility, integrated with the surrounding natural environment, making it a leading edge example of environmental sustainability.  It is built on an unique 54-Acre Town-owned parcel of land on the shoreline of Lake Wilcox.  The 56,000 square foot state of the art facility features a 7,000 square foot gymnasium, fitness centre, 6 lane leisure pool, an Ecological Centre with ample views of Lake Wilcox.

Transportation:

Yonge Street is the main transportation artery through the town, running north to Aurora and south to Richmond Hill.  To the east is Highway 404, which is accessed via Stouffville Road in the south and Bloomington to the north.  To the west is Highway 400 accessed via King Road through King City.  York Region transit is the public transportation system, who also operate the Viva Blue bus service, a limited-stop route which travels on Yonge St. from Finch subway station to Newmarket passing through Oak Ridges.  Viva bus service is accessible to passengers using mobility devices in Oak Ridges and the Yonge and King Road stop.  The King City GO Station is accessible to Oak Ridges residents.

Education:

The publicly funded schools include 4 Public, 3 Catholic, 3 French and 4 English, Oak Ridges Public Elementary School, King City Secondary School, Windham Ridge Public School, Aurora High School, Our Lady of Hope Elementary School, Cardinal Carter High School and St. Joseph Elementary School.

Medical Centre:

The Oak Ridges Medical Centre located at 13291 Yonge St is a state of the art Medical facility offering the community an urgent care centre among many other medical and diagnostic services.  The Centre For Woman’s Health is conveniently located at the centre as well.
